It's been a long day. My first class wasn't until 11:00AM so I didn't have to get up too early. Anyway, I ran out to my class after meeting our housekeeper, who by the way is so nice, and when I got to the building I realized that I hadn't looked at the room number. So I walked into the nearest professor's office and asked..
"Excuse me?" I said.
"Yes?" said an older lady with glasses, a Search professor as well.
"Do you know where Professor 'Leemos' is?" I asked hoping she would know.
"I have no idea. But this isn't my responsibility. You should know these things before you come to class," she said coldly. I just stared at her and told her thanks and walked out. So, I ran all the way back to my room, it was like 10:50 AM by the way, and ran through the door looked at the number and ran all the way back. Oh, and I forgot to mention I had a huge cup of hot tea in my hand the whole time. I ended up making it to class just in time to get one of the final seats. The class was good. I met someone from Alabama and the teacher was really good. So, then I went to lunch after class and then it was time for class number two. The devil latin class which I never wanted to take. Latin 202. So, I go and sit down and there are only 4 freshmen in there and we sit there and wait for the teacher. The teacher walks in right at the time class is supposed to start and immediately beings speaking latin and only latin. I started to freak out. I had heard horror stories about college language classes where there was absolutely no english spoken at all. I feared that this was going to be one of those classes. However, as I looked around nervously I saw that no one knew 100% what all he was saying. We all knew just enough to know what he was talking about, but it was very vague. He talked about how he spent his summer in LA at a conference and while he was there Michael Jackson died and he described the reaction of the people much like the Roman funerals. Then he talked about how he went to Sewanee for European Studies and while he was there a Rhodes student was lost in the woods. He said the reason the student was lost was because there was beer involved. Those gosh darn drinkin' Rhodents! When are they going to learn.........never. It's actually quite funny because a lot of the teachers know that the student body is known for is alcohol abuse and some make little jokes about it. But anyway, I have to write 3 750-900 word essays... in latin. And then we have oral exams. Fantastic. My life is going to be so amazing. NOT. But hey, it's only one semester. At least that is what everyone tells me. I will just have to keep telling myself that. And so, that night I spent 3 hours in the library studying and reading for upcoming class meetings. Then I came back to the room and iChatted with family. Then sleep. Well some music first because I have been music deprived.
